I hope you will excuse the fact that this is more of a “personal” blog post than what I usually post from Hart District Council, etc.
However – I have a request.
We are getting close to the time of year when people like to decorate their homes for Christmas.
We are also getting close to the time of year when people who suffer from something called “Photophobia” can start to dread going out at night.
Photophobia is a condition where your eyes are super-sensitive to bright lights – to the point where a car headlight can blind and disorient you. Or even a small hand torch.
This condition is not exactly helped by well-meaning people deciding to light up the outside of their homes so they are bright enough to be seen by passing aircraft (flashing lights make the problem worse).
I do not wish to be a killjoy but – please remember that some of us find large amounts of outdoor Christmas lights difficult to cope with when they are out and about at night. Less is most definitely more.
