Recent M3 Issues

In the past two days Hart residents have been inconvenienced by heathland fires next to the motorway and a number of accidents on it.

The good weather (sunny with drying winds) has dried out the area sooner than usual in the spring. Indeed I’m told this is the sunny-est spring on record ever. Possibly.

The chaos these events has caused has cost local businesses and transport companies and it is frustrating to the residents and folk traveling through the area. The cost to wildlife and the amenity of the area has yet to be assessed.

Hopefully people are fully aware of the dangers but if in doubt do follow this advice:

If you see people acting suspiciously do call 101 and tell the police. If you see a fire however small on the heathland ring 999 and inform the fire service and where you see an accident on the motorway again inform the emergency services. But DON’T ring whilst driving a moving vehicle!

Finally our thoughts go out to all those hurt in the various recent accidents on the M3.
