Travelling isn’t just about visiting different countries and continents, it can be just as rewarding to explore your own country. For me, it’s the UK, but the seaside city of Portsmouth is my home and the more I discover, the more I realise just how great it is – especially in the summer months.

Sitting on the south coast of the UK, Portsmouth is the second largest city in Hampshire county. Most of the city is located on Portsea Island, which makes it the UK’s only island city, and as well as being modern and cosmopolitan, the naval city known locally as ‘Pompey’, is also steeped in history. It’s seen Roman settlements; it’s where Henry VIII’s famous battleship ‘Mary Rose’ was built and sunk and is now preserved at the newly built £35m dedicated museum; it’s also home to Admiral Lord Nelson’s ‘HMS Victory’ which fought in the Battle of…
